I am so appalled by this story. The Airline Passengers Bill of Rights? Do we really lose our rights when we step onto an airliner? I cannot believe an airline has the right to kidnap and hold anyone prisoner. That is exactly what it sounds like. So this is what airlines are doing? And this is legal? I think the airlines should have to pay a million dollars to every single person they endanger in this way no matter what the “cause or reason”. There is no excuse for this. All monies should be awarded without the ability of the airlines to appeal the amount if the tarmac imprisonment goes over two hours or a person who wants to leave the plane is held against their will.
holding on tarmac/passengers captive against their will/incite incident/induce forced removal to gain release/then sue the hell out of security, homeland boffos, airport, airport control, carrier, control region. as people fear any outspoken outrage will land them in some federal rathole for making a stink, a limit of ‘on tarmac’ hold time should be ENFORCED at 2 hrs maximum. beyond that, the plane should either be allowed to fly elsewhere or release passengers. thrombosis is an issue, flunky controllers need to get a life. penalties should follow if commercial entities fail to heed basic human rights.
